I’ve been a professional theatre maker for over 30 years. I trained at Ecole Phillippe Gaulier in 1990 and spent my early years working with seminal theatre companies, Public Parts and Gog Theatre. I’ve made and performed theatre shows with over 50 companies, all over the world and not always in theatres.
I’ve made shows especially for adults, for children and often for both. I’ve appeared in street shows, indoor shows, puppet shows, opera, cabaret, stand up and improvised shows. Some have won awards. Most haven’t…but that’s not the point.
This has been with companies as diverse as (in no particular order) The Desperate Men, The Royal Court, The New York Met, The English National Opera, Improbable, The Bristol Old Vic, The World Famous, Green Ginger, Pickled Image, Shakespeare and the Tobacco Factory and dot Comedy, to name a few.
In 2016 I made the professional leap of faith; creating work in my own name. The first show, The Castle Builder was a collaboration with performer/musician Kid Carpet (Ed Patrick). This appeared at MAYK, Edinburgh Festival and toured the UK. In 2017 including Battersea Arts Centre Collaborative touring network to areas of low engagement.
My second show was a solo outing (with music by Kid Carpet). It appeared at The Bristol Old Vic in 2019 and was called A Little Death.
